Hertfordshire-based startup Tg Green Teas was founded by long-time friends, Dr Hua He and Sophia Nadur. Raised in China before moving for further studies and work in Japan and France, Dr He is a qualified medical doctor, a research physician and a mum of two. Sophia Nadur previously held marketing & innovation positions in global food & drinks companies. She also mentors Warwick Business School students and is a serving magistrate. “Hua and I are on a mission to change what we all drink, for the better! We co-founded the drinks startup to offer one a new category of drinks that is nutritionally sound, affordable, and innately beneficial to us at different life stages & lifestyles i.e. Tg tea”.
“Tg” is an innovative British-made drink that hits the new “sweet spot” people want today, namely less of the "bad" stuff (sugar, lots of especially weird sounding ingredients), natural functionality and affordable.
Tg drinks are uniquely low in sugar – less than ½ of coconut water – and the first/only RTD tea globally to be Sugarwise-certified. Earlier this month, leading health advocates, industry and academic experts across Britain gave us the Best Small Company Innovation in Sugar Reduction Award.
Tg “mandarin” is especially popular - offering a refreshing and familiar citrus taste but with the goodness of green tea and a few other select ingredients "smuggled in" i.e. tastier alternative to energy drinks. We will be sampling these drinks on stand 190 at Food Matters Live and invite you to visit us in the Sugarwise pavilion to experience what the fuss is all about.
Tg is, as well, the only RTD tea to be registered with the Vegan Society. We care about where our ingredients come from and the processing steps which trumps “organic” any day. Around 2% of the UK population is vegetarian (>1.2mil people) with half of them vegans. Millennials and Gen Zs make up the majority of vegans in the UK but millions of folks of all ages have begun to follow a plant-based diet making Vegan certified drinks like Tg even more attractive to stock on retailer shelves today.
Tg is shortlisted for the 2017 Food Matters Live Innovation 'Better for You' Award. Tg UK 2016 Quality Food Award, a 2015 World Beverage Innovation Award, and a 2015 Global Packaging Design Award.
